If you are reading this brief (yes — short for me), highlighted by my hacked story from Marketing Land @pamelaparker
, then you’re online. It’s simple. Online is a 2-way Medium that has never existed in the NEW ERA of Web3.0′s Mind Boggling ways to interact, display content and communicate in ways never dreamed of just a short time ago.
The 2-way phone yes, but that is 121 communication — a completely different interface. And the telecommunications industry has evolved nicely — its heavily invested with robust fiber and hardware structure globally, (although the real highway was built in the telecom rush of the 90′s before they all crapped out together…) it had the side benefit of leaving a nice, lovely state-of-the-art connected lit and dark fiber network that will evolve as the software evolves with it. And right now, everyone is humming on all cylinders.
The result is a consumer experience with unlimited options online to have a rather pleasant experience while also using your time more efficiently than when the Dinosaurs roamed. Online to me includes Mobile, Golf Course- wherever WiFi is available, which is everywhere. Online is everywhere and Virtual (Mobile) is naturally (with the right hardware/software) the place to be — convenience partnered with better efficiency — can’t beat that!
For example: How much better is LinkedIn today as a useful tool and time spent well vs just two years ago ? (they really hit gold on their Mobile App to catch up to FB) ?? If any company actually has a shot at messing with Facebook in a interesting way, it’s LinkedIn.
You have two lives. Professional and Personal that are both intertwined by personal beliefs, desires and ambitions. I really like the way LinkedIn has quietly created a platform that offers quality content which provides value to both my professional and personal lifestyles. FB knows this and is doing their thing (Instagram was the best move of the year for Facebook that no one gave the credit due at time), playing the social fun card while the real eye is on being the #1 hub of the picture market. Enter Twitter, who really likes the folks over at LinkedIn. And BAM, don’t leave Pinterest out– all I know is there are a lot of fun parties going on at those companies and someone is sleeping with someone. Well, it is a numbers game right..
This is just the tip of the Iceberg as we evolve into Phase 3 of the Global Online World that seriously — and I mean seriously — has heads spinning, BUT in good ways because of the uncultivated landscape of this new Wild West of the good old fashioned Land Grab and entrepreneurial spirit! Watching the new Geek Generation play poker with their new VC Friends and all the other things happening, all with Digital in play is great stuff!
So, while everyone all of the sudden claims to be a social media guru (which now means many things and not necessarily a good thing) and can tell you everything you need to know to kill it online, it sparks the creative in all of us. One thing for sure is this new Web 3.0 is stimulating more creative ideas, products and innovation across the board professionally, personally, socially online, brick and mortar offline. It’s ALL CONNECTED. But SHOW ME THE MONEY! or ROI pleazzzee…

So, Gurus and Friends, with all this said it’s time to play “show me the money” and there is money in this — $9.3B in one qtr. At BL, Analytics and Measurement rule our day (fibbing — customer service is first and time permitting, we do the fun stuff that moves the needle). As we build IP and Databases in areas of focus, while bringing our gaming platform back into our client portfolio (first rollout Streetball on iOS), we feel good about our Five Key Objectives. I will admit our Online Apparel Unit has been the most challenging business yet, but with two years of hard work and some fresh experienced talent, we are making progress in ways others simply would not understand, but the few that do, have yielded the strongest compliments to date in a competitive and fast changing landscape. When everything is CONNECTED the opportunities reside in the most creative mind.
I feel strongly that 2013 is the year of the tablet, and with software intelligence and development rolling in beast mode and finally in stride with the hardware (all levels), there should be some new Fortune 500 Companies 10 years from now, that as of this minute are in a lab going through simple code development for a service that could be as simple as serving a product that’s more innovative than the current market leader – that’s all it takes. The talent, execution and a few breaks kick in and BAM. We’re in a world where you’re right once and with some hard work anyone can be that person/company — ONLINE is a EVEN playing field where talent will always win.
The first Rule is this: It’s in the numbers, backed by trends. Digital is RED HOT and everyone is taking a swing at it– including us. BL takes a holistic approach — once we have selected a partner we feel fits what we want to represent, then we bring in the best Digital Team playing ball across all Five Key Objectives, and Kill It. We have a Plan, we have a model and we have the ability to execute. And we have Case Studies in these five key areas of the Digital Sports Marketing Industry to prove our point. Sales is about putting yourself in position to pick your clients and partners, and after two years we hope to have that selective process. It is the DNA of what we represent.
“Internet Advertising revenues in the US continue their upward trajectory, climbing to a record quarterly high of $9.3 billion in the July to September period, the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) found in its latest report. That’s 18% higher than the same period in 2011 and a 6% increase from Q2 of this year.”
IA Bexecs said it was a testament to digital marketing’s interactive capabilities that it’s beenable to provide value, and draw increased investment, despite shaky economic times.
“Clearly, digital advertising is continuing its positive trajectory with incredible momentum as it heads into seasonally strong Q4,” said David Silverman, a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, which helps the IAB conduct its research.
The organization typically releases top-line revenue numbers in the first and third quarters, going into more detail in the second and fourth. Pamela Parker
On a serious note, last night was a special night for BL, but also a very sad night as a friend was laid to rest after a bizarre and completely unexpected plane crash last week. These are special families who all shared a common bond, and it’s very inspiring to watch these emotions become a sincere love and appreciation for how fortunate life is and the 30 years they got out of a very special Young Man.
These tight Families became one again and to show that they are ONE, they chose to wear something created by BL that they felt represented his memory — and it has also become very near and dear to us after the Mavs won the NBA Championship. That story is for another day, but for last night the Cheney Family was the Strongest on God’s Earth. It’s not every day a message is created that is as sincere and has the impact as the one they represented.
God Bless Everyone to have a Happy and Safe Holiday Season. All the Best,
